Join our community of specialists and take part in the journey of restoring brain health

Are you a Data Engineer interested in working with health data and data management systems and are you intrigued by optimizing solutions for big, complex, and heterogeneous datasets, and most importantly are you eager to join a multidisciplinary team aiming to advance treatments in brain health, then we have an exciting job opportunity for you.

At Lundbeck’s R&D Biometrics division, we are currently looking for a determined, proactive, and innovative Data Engineer to join our Data Science department and drive our data systems and operations.

The Biometrics Division

Biometrics is responsible for handling and analyzing data across the drug development value chains. The division consists of 5 departments: Data Science, Digital Solutions, Data Management, Biostatistics, and Statistical Programming. In total we are more than 70 people.

Data Science currently employs 9 highly skilled team members. The primary responsibility of the department is to contribute in Lundbeck’s R&D projects. Our target is to improve portfolio decision making, enhance clinical trials, and reduce the risk for research and development by increased trust in data-driven insights.

Our work is focused on the life cycle of data operations (DataOps) and model operations (MLOps). We rely on efficient solutions for managing Big Data and reliable HPC systems to standardize data curation, feature engineering, dimensionality reduction, forecasting disease trajectories, subtyping, NLP, text mining, ML and DL modeling, medical imaging analysis, working with medical signals, and generating reliable evidence from RWD.

Your job and key responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining DataOps pipelines for research and development projects. Additionally, you will support our HPC systems and applications. Further responsibilities are to:

  • Maintain the smooth operation of our computational systems, data management, and analytical applications.
  • Develop standardized and DataOps pipelines in a cloud-based environment using Amazon Web Services, optimizing data processes from delivery up until analysis.
  • Execute projects that contribute to data standardization, integration, optimization, quality assurance, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary Lundbeck’s R&D teams.
  • Identify challenges at project design phase and communicate efficient solutions.
  • Share knowledge with your colleagues and keep our organization updated on the latest developments.
  • Work in a regulated area involving patient data. You must appreciate the restrictions this imposes as well as the impact of analyses on major decisions in drug-development projects and budgets.

We offer

Lundbeck’s passion links to our purpose about restoring brain health, so every person can be their best. We strive to make a real difference to patients. By developing innovative treatments, we improve the lives of people living with brain diseases. Your dedication is crucial and that is why you can expect us to be committed to your progress, so you can stay committed to ours.

We offer a great workplace, that is based on a flat structure, forming a collaborative working environment built on respect and equality. We employ dedicated colleagues and encourage continuous development. In Biometrics, we strive daily to bring our expertise within data handling and analysis into play and make a real difference to patients.

The position is placed at our Headquarter in Copenhagen (Valby). A flexible work arrangement, working remotely some days of the week, is possible. The desired start date is no later than September 1st, 2022.

Qualifications

Our preferred candidate has the following personal and professional qualifications:

  • 2+ year of experience in data engineering, including working and optimizing SQL database management systems. No-SQL or MPP DB experience is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Python.
  • 1+ year of experience in Linux based environments, OS-level virtualization (e.g., docker containers), and bash scripting. Experience with AWS is a plus.
  • Understanding DataOps and version control (Git).
  • Highly motivated to continuously improve our data handling and analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
