Job Description

We are looking for a creative, organized, hard-working Style Editor with strong reporting and writing skills, plus editing capabilities, to join the PEOPLE style and beauty department. This person should have a passion for all aspects of celebrity style and beauty, from red carpet and street style trends to beauty product launches and industry news. You must be an accurate, fast writer who understands the PEOPLE voice across all platforms and have a strong sense of what style and beauty content does and does not perform online. You are committed to size inclusivity and representation in style and beauty, and can pull unique angles out of the daily news cycle. Coming into this role with strong industry relationships is a major plus.
II. Essential Job Functions
Pitch and write stories (this includes managing the edit calendar, securing exclusives and writing up to five pieces of original content daily as well as any additional features content)
Editing junior writers
Represent style and beauty department at industry events
Monitor and continue to improve the performance of People’s style and beauty content
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
BA or BS
3+ years experience as an editor at an online publication
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Love of fashion, style, luxury, and pop culture/celebrity
  • Ability to assign, write, and edit stories quickly
  • Breadth of industry and fashion freelance writer contacts
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and SEO; understanding of how to measure edit success and use data to drive content planning
