Postdoc of Materials Chemistry and High Entropy Alloy Catalysis at Københavns Universitet

Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering one or more postdoc positions commencing May 1st 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The positions are within materials chemistry with a strong focus on the use of X-ray scattering methods for characterization of atomic structure, as well as understanding material synthesis pathways.
Description of the scientific environment
The position(s) are in the Nanostructure group at Department of Chemistry, led by Associate Professor Kirsten M. Ø. Jensen. Our group focuses on uncovering the relation between synthesis, structure and properties in nanoscale solid state materials, applying in particular X-ray and neutron total scattering for detailed structure analysis of nanomaterials.
One position (2 years) is within Center for High Entropy Alloy Catalysis (CHEAC, https://chem.ku.dk/research_sections/cheac/) focusing on the synthesis and characterization of high entropy alloy nanoparticles for electrocatalysis. Depending on the successful applicant’s background and interests, the project can lie within material synthesis .and application of the materials in electrocatalysis, but always with a focus on structure analysis.
The second position (2 years) lies within size/structure relations and formation mechanisms for oxide nanomaterials. Here, the aim is to use synchrotron techniques including X-ray total scattering and X-ray spectroscopy to elucidate the formation and nucleation pathways for oxide materials using in situ synchrotron studies.
The postdoc’s duties will include research as well as teaching. The post may also include performance of other duties.
To be considered, applicants must have a PhD degree in either in chemistry, nanoscience, physics, or a similar field.
Documented experience in synchrotron or neutron experiments is furthermore required, including experience in modelling of scattering or spectroscopy data. Experience with especially total scattering and Pair Distribution Function analysis will also be considered.
The candidate should be able to conduct independent and creative research, demonstrate scientific productivity, and show good inter-personal and communication skills. The candidate will work within our international, cross-disciplinary group and will co-supervise students and other group members.
The candidate must have excellent English communication skills, and the ability to write scientific papers at a high level.
Further information on the Department is linked at https://www.science.ku.dk/english/about-the-faculty/organisation/.
The position(s) are open from May 1st 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The University wishes our staff to reflect the diversity of society and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
The application, in English, must be submitted electronically by clicking APPLY NOW below.
Please include
  • Motivation/cover letter, describing which position the application is for.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • List of publications
  • Copy of diplomas (Master and PhD or equivalent)
  • Reference letters (if available)

The deadline for applications is February 15th 2022, 23:59 GMT +1.
After the expiry of the deadline for applications, the authorized recruitment manager selects applicants for assessment on the advice of the Interview Committee.
