Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the course of the internship?
Participate and play an active role in UK and EU strategic assignments:
Within the first couple weeks, you will be integrated into meetings and assigned to multiple recurring assignments.
By the end of the internship, you will have mastered the recurring tasks and will be leading the assignments with an ability to fully execute independently.
Be a proactive member of the team:
You will be successful if you are a self-starter and can effectively communicate your desire to learn more and ask how else you can help. Team members will delegate assignments to you as you ask for them. Your internship is best how you make it.
You will excel in this role if you bring confidence and exceptional interpersonal skills to your work conduct and product.
You will be expected to manage multiple projects and assignments at once.
You will be most successful when you can demonstrate that you are a practical problem-solver who possesses a strong business sense, confidence, maturity, and calm even under pressure.
Following our VMware community, you will conduct yourself with the highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
While you will be supporting the broader Global Government Relations and Public Policy team, you will be receiving primary direction from the EMEA Senior Director, based in the UK, and EU Public Policy Director based in Brussels. In support of our communications to internal and external audiences, you will write and prepare content for our various newsletters, infographics, and executive briefs. You will provide analysis and conduct research on policy issues surrounding technology, multi-cloud, digital infrastructure, 5G, privacy, cybersecurity, data governance, sustainability, skills, R&D projects, and other issues. Utilizing our multiple subscriptions and resources, you will be tasked to monitor and track industry news and related legislative developments.
There are opportunities to work on long-term, strategic projects and additional special projects as assigned.
What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?
You will be managed primarily by our EMEA Senior Director, based in the UK, and our EU Public Policy Director based in Brussels. Their management philosophy is all about “teamwork” and trust. They work actively to involve interns as core members of the team. They both value collaboration, open communication, asking any and all questions, creativity, and a desire to dig deeper into our core mission.
