Campus Internship 2019/2020: Research & Development: Development of filmic labels for reverse gravure at Dow

We are looking for you, an ambitious student (m/f), currently studying for a Master degree, to support our Packaging & Specialty Plastics business, who is interested in “Development of filmic labels for reverse gravure”, to be located in Tarragona, Spain.

The department that will welcome you is at the forefront of application development when it comes to polyethylene markets, polyurethane adhesive markets for food packaging and acrylic markets like labels and tapes. You will work in a technical and research environment where the main scope is to try to improve existing applications where polyethylene, polyurethane or acrylic chemistry is used with the final aim of improving the sustainability footprint and the resource efficiency. The applications we are active in range from automotive, to infrastructure, consumer packaging, hygiene articles to industrial and food packaging. We master various compounding and extrusion technologies where polyethylene is used as well as formulation science when it comes to polyurethane adhesive and acrylics.

Project description

Study synergies between polyolefins, siloxanes and functional polymers on film applications. The project will focus on formulation screening, film extrusion and measurement of physical and surface properties of the film.

You will participate in training during the first week of your internship. This training program will expose you to our culture and provide you with a knowledge base to draw upon throughout the remainder of your internship and beyond.

Qualifications

You are currently studying for a Master's Degree or equivalent in chemical engineering, material science, polymer science or chemistry.

You have a good working knowledge of English.

Any experience acquired in previous internships while working in a laboratory are a plus. A focus on safety is required as well as openness for a diverse environment. An individual contributor with is also a good team player is required. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for innovation and sustainability.

You can start during the first half of 2020 for a period of 6 months. You will be remunerated.
