Finance Manager Iberia (m/f)

Reports to: Director Finance Iberia

Location: Barcelona, Spain

Position Summary
The Finance Manager is responsible for controlling and accounting activities related to Alexion Pharma Spain & Portugal in cooperation with the Finance team in International based in Zurich and Financial Shared Services.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage month, quarter and year end activities from an accounting perspective
  • Interact and work together with International and global accounting team regarding general ledge and AP/AR activities
  • Oversee trade and corporate income tax aspects as well as VAT related topics
  • Prepare financial reporting, monthly planning and analysis
  • Establish budgets, forecasts and manage local budgets
  • Support International controlling team to prepare the patients and sales forecasts
  • Develop, deploy, monitor and drive internal procedures in conformity with the Company policies and adapt to the context of Alexion Pharma Spain & Portugal
  • Business partnering to the local management team to ensure clear understanding of financial impact of key decisions
  • Support the local team decision-making process by providing insightful business, cost and financial information as they relate to local initiatives and objectives – that will include the development and management of ad-hoc reports & analyses for the local sales team
  • Handle invoices and prepare for further processing, monitor invoicing and payments
  • Ensure purchasing process is in line with Company policy – including PRF timeliness and accuracy (create PRF and New Vendor Forms)
  • Review Open Purchase Orders and manage the monthly accrual process
  • Monitor & check customers rebates (e.g. wholesalers rebates)
  • Develop, manage and update KPIs related to the key tasks above and produce regular reports for local and International team review
  • Ensure training, coaching and guidance to Alexion Pharma Spain & Portugal employees for those areas where their support is needed
    Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s degree of a business school or equivalent certificate in Finance
  • 3+ years experience in Big 4 firm in Audit/Accounting
  • 5 year experience in Finance / Accounting and FP&A position
  • First experience with Corporate Tax related topics
  • Experience in international matrix organizations
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology industry is a strong plus
  • Interpersonal skills with ability to work with others as well as independently
  • Very good computer skills, in particular Excel and PPT
  • Good knowledge of an ERP, SAP or similar
  • Fluency in English both written and oral mandatory
    Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business field.
  • Accounting degree or other accounting qualification is a plus
  • Advanced degree (MS, PhD, or MBA) preferred.
