Kongsberg Digital Simulation, Inc is seeking a technical Service Engineer to join our Marine Simulation team. This full-time
position is based in Groton, CT, USA.
The KDSI Service Engineer will have responsibilities that include the installation, service and support of Kongsberg Digital
Simulation products in North, South and Latin America. Key areas of responsibility include service support activities to meet
company targets in line with installations and Long-Term System Support Program (LTSSP) requirements for our growing
Customer base.
Responsibilities
The Service Engineer will report to the Customer Service Manager (CSM) of Kongsberg Digital Simulation Inc. Working as a
member of the customer service team, with representation in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Norway, responsibilities shall
include the following:
  • Perform on-site installations and customer support services consistent with terms detailed in LTSSP;
  • Communicate courteously with customers by telephone, e-mail, letter and face to face;
  • Investigate and solve customers' technical issues, which may be of a complex or long-standing nature;
  • Organize and maintain accurate & updated customer configuration database and spare parts inventory;
  • Keep accurate records of discussions and relevant correspondence with customers;
  • Write reports and maintain records detailing the work, discussions and possible solutions upon completion of a customer site visit or customer interaction;
  • Provide quotations for hardware and software to customers with the assistance of the CSM;
  • Develop procedural reports pertaining to products supplied by KDSI and all pertinent peripheral hardware/software;
  • Provide assistance and advice to customers using your organization’s products and services;
  • Provide technical training on your organization’s products;
  • Coordinate with CS Department in the US and Norway to repair or configure simulation systems consistent with the customers’ needs;
  • Work together with customers and the CSM to schedule on site visits and repair efforts;
  • Configure and provide support for demonstration systems;
  • Provide technical support to the Sales Department;

Qualifications & Skills
  • Post-secondary education on a Technician/Engineer level. A marine industry background is preferred;
  • Understanding and familiarity with shipboard engine rooms preferred;
  • Proficiency in MS Windows 7, 8, 10 and basic networking required;
  • Must be able to lift and move the weight equivalent to a computer (approx. 40lbs);
  • Good communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate in a team environment;
  • Willing to submit to a background criminal record check and eligibility to apply for and maintain security clearances;
  • Driver’s license in good standing;
  • Capable of obtaining a US passport;
  • Strong hardware knowledge and interest in technology-based solutions;
  • Self-driven with positive attitude - ready and motivated for extensive support activity;
  • Service minded, and customer focused;
