Essential Responsibilities

This will include evaluating machinery condition based on vibration behavior and process data; rotor dynamic analysis; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining protection/monitoring system hardware & software; and installing temporary vibration instrumentation to diagnose machinery faults.
The Bently Nevada Remote Monitoring Centers (RMCs) are located strategically throughout the world to provide machinery and monitoring system support to our world-wide customers. The RMC provides expertise through the ability to connect to real time diagnostic information from customer facilities such as Power Plants, Refineries, Petro-Chemical facilities, Wind Farms and offshore O&G Production facilities. Through the use of common databases, standard tools and processes, the RMCs can provide 24/7 customer support. By using Bently software applications such as System 1 and Fleet Management, RMC personnel can provide proactive as well as periodic and reactive problem identification and management.
The RMC is strategic to the growth of the Bently Nevada business, being a key element of Supporting Service Agreements (SSA). Whilst the primary goal is to provide a valuable, profitable service to paying customers, the RMC also serves as a showcase for potential customers to observe/learn how the products function and deliver value within real life customer operations. Through close collaboration with customers, Bently Nevada services personnel and Bently Nevada Engineering/Technology personnel, the RMC is critical to supporting the development of new software, hardware, and services products.
In the role of Bently Field Services - Remote Monitoring, you will:
  • Diagnose machinery problems based upon: vibration data, operational data, and customer communications
  • Be knowledgeable and experience diagnosing machinery related problems using advanced System 1 capabilities, including Bently Performance
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Be a team player – working closely with Sales, Services, Product Line/Customer Experience, Technical Support, Engineering / Technology and Marketing
  • Strong focus on delivering value to our customers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel

  • Provide leadership, technical direction, and assistance to the customer, user, and other BHGE service personnel in the trouble-shooting and long-term maintenance of Bently Nevada equipment and customers’ rotating machinery
  • Be able to foresee a customer’s need for information or work practice to achieve higher plant reliability
  • Track, report, and forecast financials on individual projects on a regular basis
  • Assess job site Safety and perform services as per BHGE Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Policies

Role Summary/Purpose

As a Bently Nevada Customer Management Specialist for Baker Hughes a GE Company, you will be tasked with providing customers complete service solutions to address their critical rotating machinery assets, protection, and monitoring systems.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering disciplines from an accredited college or university

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Travel 20% of the time to work at customers’ sites
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Possess or ability to obtain a passport
  • Obtain TWIC Card

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with rotating equipment (Steam Turbines, Compressors, Gas Turbines, Pumps, Motors, Fans, Hydro Turbines, Wind Turbines, etc.) in the Power Generation, Oil Refining, Petro-Chemical or similar industry is preferred
  • Course / laboratory experience in applicable power cycles (Rankine, Brayton, Otto, and Stirling) or Petroleum Engineering and/or intern experience in a related field will be considered
  • Machinery Knowledge (Steam Turbines, Compressors, Gas Turbines, Pumps, Motors, Fans, Hydro Turbines, Wind Turbines, etc.)
  • Knowledge or experience with AT LEAST one or more of the following: mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration and/or diagnostics, rotordynamic analysis, machinery balancing and alignment
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems
  • Knowledge of machinery protection and management systems
  • Industry Process knowledge (Power Generation, Oil Refinery, LNG, Fertilizer, Ethylene,…)
  • Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance (PdM) technologies such as: oil analysis, thermography, online / off-line motor testing, and/or ultrasonics
  • ISO Cat 2 Vibration Analyst certified
  • Mechanical & Electrical trouble shooting skills; "Hands-on approach"
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and understanding mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Experience with Networking devices and protocols
  • Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and services
  • Demonstrate authority and assurance dealing with people
  • Ability to set / meet aggressive targets and work under stressful working conditions
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office software
  • Experience working under stressful working conditions
  • Project Management Skills
  • Black Belt or Green Belt Certified (GE employees only)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure
